You’re Insulting Our Integrity, Abia APGA Warns Udensi …As It Disowns His Claims Of Guber Candidacy

The Abia State chapter of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA has alleged that one of its governorship aspirant, Sir Chikwe Udensi blocked some progressive-minded personalities from joining APGA, with the claims that he had already been anointed by the national leadership of the party as candidate for Abia.

The party also made it clear that Udensi came last in the recently concluded governorship primary with only 12 votes.


In a press briefing held at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia, the State Chairman, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere, also denied demanding financial inducements from Udensi to allow him get the guber ticket.


He made it clear that “No such demand was made by our party”, adding that “Udensi has never contributed a dime to this party in the last three years.”


The party pointed out that a delegate list of Arochukwu Ward 3 which was approved by both the National and State secretariat of APGA were different from the one held by Udensi, observing that early discovery of Udensi’s alleged plans might have made him to sneak out to another venue to announce himself as APGA guber candidate.


While rubbishing some social media reports where Sir Chikwe Udensi was proclaimed as the authentic guber candidate of APGA for 2023 Abia governorship election, Ehiemere warned that, ” Any further attempt by Udensi to malign the integrity of APGA shall attract severe penalty”.


Moreover, Ehiemere informed Abians that Udensi’s claims of being the party’s candidate is not only baseless, but a deliberate attempts to disparage and malign the integrity of APGA in Abia.

APGA described Chikwe Udensi’s actions as cheap popularity and warned that the party would no longer tolerate a further denigrate the integrity and constipation of APGA.


Ehiemere maintained that his party conducted the most credible  guber primary election in Abia State, where every aspirant of the party was given a level playing ground to prove his popularity and acceptance to the delegates.

He lamented that Chikwe Udensi after addressing party delegates, sneaked out from the Kolping hall venue of APGA primary and went to a hotel in another part of Umuahia to illegally declare himself as the party’s authentic candidate.


” It may interest you gentlemen of the press to know that the grouse of Chikwe Udensi against the party is that he made several efforts to foreclose the party by not allowing people to join APGA for whatever reasons best known to him. But the State leadership of the resisted all his attempts which were not for the best interest of the party, as the State leadership is poised to making sure that APGA will occupy the Abia State government house, come 2023″.


On the threat by some defeated aspirants to challenge their loss in Court, Ehiemere explained that the primary election of APGA was very transparent, adding that  the party has not received any formal complaint from any of the APGA aspirants.

He however, appealed to the guber aspirants to support the winner, Prof Gregory Ibe and entire APGA family in winning the general elections in 2023.


” Going to Court will not do us any good. I appeal to them to come and join hands and change the leadership narrative of the State”, Ehiemere passionately appealed.


The party also used the opportunity to urge Igbos to vote for Prof Philip Umeadi, APGA presidential candidate, now that APC and PDP have disappointed the South East.
