The African Democratic Congress, ADC has stated that the party remained resolute in its mission to give Abia State the best candidate for the redemption Journey ahead and will not be distracted by the recent outburst of the Director General, Abia Political projects and Team Lead, Consensus Governorship Candidate Screening Committee, Dr. Uduma Nnate.

Dr. Uduma Nnate, the Director General, Abia Political projects and Team Lead, Consensus Governorship Candidate Screening Committee flanked by the Secretary of the Committee, Nnaukwu Peter Ogbuji and three other members had in some months back, in the presence of newsmen in Umuahia, unveiled the Abia State Governorship candidate of the ADC, Bishop Sunday Onuoha as the Abia North consensus Governorship candidate for 2023 election in Abia State.

They had told newsmen in a press conference that the decision came after all due considerations of Capacity, Integrity, Sound health, Manifesto and Knowledge of Good governance of all the candidates.

Shortly after, Nnate resurfaced in Umuahia and informed newsmen in a press conference also that they have dropped Bishop Onuoha, citing lack of preparedness and noncommittal to the project by Onuoha as reason for the withdrawal of its earlier endorsement of his candidature.

According to the group, key considerations for the choice of Otti were capacity, credibility, competence, sound health, political party and knowledge of good governance.

But swiftly, in a press release tagged, “ADC ABIA GUBER DOES NOT REQUIRE NNATE’S ENDORSMENT TO BECOME GOVERNOR”, signed and made available to newsmen in Umuahia by Very Rev’d Amb. P. C. Okeiyi, ADC Zonal Publicity Secretary, asserted that Bishop Onuoha will not yield to any form of intimidation or blackmail by political jobbers who jump from one political camp to another looking for their selfish welfare.

The release read, “The attention of the Zonal publicity office of the African Democratic Congress ADC was drawn to a press interview issued by a certain Dr. Nnate Uduma on his withdrawal of Abia North Consensus candidature from our Guber candidate Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha.

“Let us state categorically that at no time will ADC, Abia North or Ndi Abia generally, require any form of endorsement by any group or person’s before they can make up their mind as to whom to vote for. African Democratic Congress as a party found Bishop Onuoha worthy and during her primaries elected him by majority votes to become her Guber Candidate.

“Nnate Uduma is a self-appointed mouth piece, who cannot speak for a people who do not know, nor recognize him as a political leader. We would rather advice Ndi Abia to be mindful of such hopeless and hungry elements who are hopping around the polity.

“We wish Mr. Nnate luck with his next victim, as Abia State has seen his like before, as they complete their rounds amongst candidates of different political parties.

“We remain resolute in our mission to give Abia State the best candidate for the redemption Journey ahead; as we implore all Abians to go out this Saturday and vote for Peter Obi as President, as well as all ADC Senate and House of Rep candidates for the transformation agenda we all desire.

“By the 11th of March 2023, when Abians will vote for Bishop Dr. Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha as the next governor of Abia State, our collective will to salvage our state will become obvious”.
