Every December, prior to Christmas, all these people come together, sponsored by the Club, to thank God for leading the Club, its members and all friends and family to the half year of Rotary calendar year.

Speaking during the event which took place in Umuahia, the Synergizer President of the Club, Rtn. Adaeze Iroegbu (PHF) said the club in keeping with her annual tradition and also being mindful of the importance of the family as the basic component of society, ensured that they had a good time.

According to her, in keeping with the ideal of service to humanity, the family and its wellbeing must be the starting point and as “Rotarians, we recognise, appreciate and celebrate the family as a unit and Rotary as one big family”.

Speaking also, the District Governor, District 9142, Rtn. Grace Okaro emphasised the importance of the event as opportunity for Rotarians to bring their family members and friends together in an atmosphere of fun with a view to introducing them to Rotary as some of them, seeing what Rotary is all about could eventually join Rotary Club and become part of the efforts to impact their communities positively.

“What better way can there be to end the year than a gathering of family and friends in a relaxed atmosphere of fun and pleasure”, she pointed out.

Lending his voice also, the District Public Image Chair District 9142, Rtn. Chimdi Oluoha said the event provides a platform of thanksgiving to God for leading members, friends and family to the end of the calendar year and half of the Rotary year.

He said, “It is a merry making thing, a thanksgiving thing directed at thanking God for His goodness to Rotarians, friends and family and the community where the Club serves. It is not an easy thing. To work in Rotary is tedious and demanding and to do this for half the Rotary year successfully means a lot and we need to thank God for that”.
