Vote candidates who knows the importance of the SMEs in the economy, UCCIMA Boss task voters in a Christmas message


As the year 2023 general election gradually set in, the Chief Servant of Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, UCCIMA Chief Chidi Aruoma has reminded Abians that a relative lack of skills can affect the ability of any society to adapt to change, hence the need to vote for candidates in the forthcoming elections who understands the importance of the SMEs in the economy.

In a Christmas message to Abians and Nigerians at large, Chief Aruoma carefully observed that in some countries, policies have been put in place to address the information gap between SMEs and potential investors by facilitating their direct interaction and decried that the nation is yet to measure up with that.

He said that what the eligible voters should consider before casting their votes is a candidate who has in mind the productive growth for micro and small enterprises, and how to develop entrepreneurial skills of the teeming youths to reduce unemployment.

He maintained that if properly harnessed and given the pride of place it deserves, Small businesses can comfortably create two-thirds of new jobs and deliver handsomely to the gross domestic product (GDP).

According to him, in addition to keeping the economy running, small businesses also lead the way in innovation.

He seized the opportunity to wish Abians a merry Christmas and a glorious new year celebrations, praying all sundry to observe a Christmas season without violence.
