Ukwu Unity Cup grand finale holds 30th December

Isialangwa North local government area of Abia State will be agog on Monday, December 30, 2022 for the grand finale of a football competition tagged “The Ukwu Unity Cup Football Competition For Uche Ndi Abia 2023”.

The competition which holds at the Isialangwa North sports stadium under the Chairmanship of Prof. Anthony Agbazuere, PDP candidate for Isialangwa North and South Federal Constituency, is sponsored by a politician and sports enthusiast, Rt. Hon. Christopher Enweremadu, who is the Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Interacting with our correspondent, the Chairman, Organising Committee of Ukwu Unity Cup Football Competition For Uche Ndi Abia, 2023, Elder Nwaogwugwu Ezenwoke said the tournament was aimed at galvanising support for People Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Prof. Uche Ikonne, to win the 2023 governorship election.

Ezenwoke who said that football tournament is another way of uniting people and communities globally, pointed out that the competition was also aimed at bringing “Our people together, using team work with good spirit of oneness to achieve more as a community and to leave a good foundation for the next generation.”

The Chairman, Organizing Committee who described Prof. Ikonne as a unifier, disclosed that the Unity Cup tournament is in tandem with his aspiration of stabilise the State’s unity, through participatory democracy which is embedded in his TIGER Economy vision for Abia State.
