The beneficiary, Martins Ebochuo, an elderly indigent person and a native of Umuajiji Isieke Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, had his medical bill to the tune of forty five thousand and one hundred naira relieved by the humanitarian organisation, after about ten days at the Abia State Specialist Hospital on discharge, due to his inability to raise the bill charged for his treatment.

Speaking during the humanitarian visit, the President, Ugo Umuahia Daughters International and a Magistrate, Ugo Rita Olujie, confirmed that the patient could not go home after he was discharged from hospital over a week ago, and on getting wind of it, the group ran in to assist by paying up the bill so he can get reunited with his family this Yuletide.

She said, “We are so particular excited to be able to touch this soul at this time as part of our humanitarian activities over the years. Our focal point is reaching out to indigent people, and we remain grateful to God for supporting all our activities since inception”

President Olujie used the opportunity to call on good spirited individuals as well as humanitarian organisations in the society to do more to touch the lives of helpless and near hopeless citizens in their respective areas.

Martins Ebochuo, who has reasons to breath fresh air of relief said, “I couldn’t raise the money charged by the hospital and none of my family members could at this time, so I was left with no option but to keep waiting for a Messiah to pay my bill so I can get reunited with my family members at home”.

He expressed his gratitude to the group for reaching out to him even as he had described them as angels sent from heaven when all hope seem to have been lost.

” I am grateful to members of Ugo Daughters International, who have taken away my shame. I am also grateful to God for giving members the idea to form this club and for them to render service to humanity”, he expressed gratitude.

Matron Ugoma Uzuegbu in charge of the Specialist Hospital could not hold back her excitement over the benevolence shown to the patient who spent close to a week after he was discharged.

” I am so excited for this reach out today. I was really disturbed deep within me on the continuous stay of the patient after he was declared fit to go back home just because he was unable to offset the hospital bill. He would have remained here while others enjoy the Yuletide but for your intervention”. She had said.

While thanking the organisation, she urged similar bodies to assist the needy, particularly those who could not afford to pay their medical bills.
