The National Directorate of Employment, NDE Abia State office, has carried out the orientation ceremony for twenty two (22) graduates selected for the Special Graduate Attachment Programme (GAP) in the state.

Presenting a keynote address during the event, the Director – General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Fikpo Nuhu, encouraged the participants to be committed and make good use of the opportunity given them.

The NDE boss who was represented by the State Coordinator NDE Abia, Mrs Tessy Wachuku congratulated them for being part of the few selected among the hundreds of unemployed graduates in the state.

In his speech also, Mr Idris Mahmood, who represented the Director, Special Public Works Department at the headquarters, described GAP as a transient job and a second chance opportunity to be employed after the NYSC.

He encouraged the participants to put in their best as this exposure to work environment is getting them closer to a permanent employment.

Speaking also, Mr Michael Ubani, Head of Department, Special Public Works, NDE Abia State office further encouraged the participants to be dedicated in their various workplaces.

Responding on behalf of the participants, a blind participant, Barr. Nwosu Gabriel, thanked the Federal Government for the 5 percent inclusion policy of physically challenged in all programmes which made him to benefit.

He also thanked NDE for the opportunity and promised that they will not let the Directorate down at their work places.
