Showers Of Wise Counsels, As Rotary Club Of Umuahia North Holds Inaugural Fellowship

Rotary Club of Umuahia North, District 9142, Wednesday, held her inaugural fellowship of the year with Rtn. Emeka Sopuruchi, the Visionary President of the Club for 2021 – 2022 Rotary Year.
The District Governor Elect, DGE Grace Okaro; Past Assistant Governor, Rtn. Chimdi Oluoha; Past Assistant Governor zone 3, PAG Ogechi Oguma; Assistant Governor zone 5, Rtn. Ekele Ochiabuto; Assistant Governor zone 4, Rtn. Kelechi Alozie; Visionary Presidents of Rotary Clubs of Umuahia, Rtn. Ugochukwu Ajawara; Umuahia Government House, Rtn. Wachukwu Emeka; and Obowo, Rtn. Jim Anyanwu witnessed the inaugural fellowship.
In a brief speech, the District Governor Elect, DGE Grace Okaro reminded the new Club President, Rtn. Sopuruchi Emeka and his team that Rotary prepares one for leadership, which they had already been exposed to and challenged them to put in practice all that they gained during the leadership training.
She made it clear that, “One cannot do Rotary effectively without Rotary knowledge”, hence the need for the new President and his team to continuously and continually go for trainings both at the zonal and district levels.
DGE Okaro listed membership growth; service project in line with areas of focus and needs assessment and contribution to Rotary Foundation as three major areas Clubs are assessed and encouraged them to create a project bank, which they can easily access whenever the need for a project arises.
Also in his remarks, the Past Assistant Governor, PAG Chimdi Oluoha who went down memory lane to tell the story of how he joined the club, informed the audience that Rotary is an organization that has an epitome of good governance and well structured hierarchically.
Rtn. Oluoha encouraged the Club President and his team to live up to the expectations of the members, as he rightly put it, “A lot is expected from you as a leader. It’s not easy to lead a vibrant team. Success is about falling and rising consistently until you get it right. Gird your loins and learn from what happened in the past to chart a better future.
“We expect that Rotary Club of Umuahia North will get it not just right but better this year. I look up to this club to give us a better future in Umuahia. I see the future of Umuahia Rotary in this club. I see a District Governor emerging from this club”, he expressed optimism.
In her contributions, the immediate Past Assistant Governor zone 3 PAG Ogechi Oguma enjoined Rtn. Sopuruchi Emeka to continue to show the example of best Rotary practice, adding that Rotarians are known for their outstanding good character.
Respectively, the Visionary Presidents of Rotary Clubs of Umuahia and Umuahia Government House, Rtn. Ugochukwu Ajawara and Rtn. Wachukwu Emeka called for unity and togetherness among the Clubs in Umuahia. They reminded their colleague that a team that stays together, achieves greater things.
The President-elect, Rotary Club of Obowo, Rtn. Ebekuonwanne Peters, other Rotarians and Rotaractors also attended the Inaugural fellowship which saw members of Rotary Club of Umuahia North pledged their support to Rtn. Emeka Sopuruchi’s led administration.
