S/E Insecurity: Engage Local Hunters, Vigilante Group Now, Chief Osondu Advises Govs …As Abia Royal Father Expresses Concern


Perturbed by insecurity that has almost enveloped the entire region, an APC stalwart and National Director, Divine Institute of Chaplaincy Corp, Chief Ikechi Osondu has enjoined Southeast governors to properly equip local hunters to comb the forest.

Chief Osondu who was reacting to the kidnap of the Methodist Church Nigeria Prelate, Most Rev. Kalu Uche and others and the press conference that followed after his release, also advised that the Vigilante group be properly equipped to keep surveillance in the neighborhood.

He also advised that villagers have to be oriented and reoriented and each village should get bylaws that would call for proper identification of sojourners and visitors.

Osondu expressed fears that, “If Nigeria do not look into her security issue and begin to fund the hunters and vigilante group with the assistance of senior citizens that have been exposed in what is happening on other countries, we will reach a situation where we will not be able to stand it”.

Osondu also suggested a crime watch system as obtainable in the Western world, pointing out that it will greatly assist to reduce insecurity to its barest minimum.

Meanwhile, the immediate past Chairman, Umuahia North Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Philip Ajomiwe has advised the Southeast Governors to put in more effort to arrest insecurity, particularly kidnapping which is competing to portray the region in a bad light.

His words, I wish to advice the Governors of the Southeast to go extra mile and stop without delay the kidnapping that had turned a lucrative business by these dare devils and the killings of our citizens.

” There should be immediate implementation of whatever decision the Governors and Stakeholders decides to do. Almighty God is watching every one of us as innocent bloods are shed on daily basis. May God touch our heart, soul and spirit to answer the call from above”.
