RC Umuahia Supports Girl Empowerment, Celebrates World Peace Day

In line with the Year 2021 theme of the International Day of Peace: “Recovering Better for an Equitable and Sustainable World”, the Visionary President of Rotary Club of Umuahia, District 9142, Rtn. Ugochukwu Ajawara has urged Rotarians and Nigerians in general to guide against those factors that have threatened the peace and progress of the Society.

In his speech in Umuahia, Abia State during the Club’s fellowship, Rtn. Ajawara also harped the need for sustainable peace and development based on the truth and resolution of underlining wrongs and injustices in the various communities.

Rtn. Ajawara who also enjoined members to take responsibility in their respective families and communities, urged all Nigerians to strive continually for justice as a solid foundation to achieve world peace and stability.

He went further to counsel and encourage all Nigerians to take responsibility for the global peace building effort, as it will effectively check the proliferation and impact of armed conflicts in the various communities.

On the Support Girl Empowerment Programme of the Club, Rtn. Ajawara disclosed that in line with the vision of adopting and training a girl child, which the Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta is propagating, the Club adopted an indigent child, AmBlessed Essien as the Star beneficiary.

He disclosed further that,  “AmBlessed will not just be trained through Primary School level, the Club had elected to take care of her medical bills, nutritional needs and befitting accommodation for her parents”.

“Her parents are indigent and cannot afford good nutrition and necessary medical care, AmBlessed requires.

“By giving life back to AmBlessed and training her in School as well, we are obviously training a nation”, Rtn. Ajawara pointed out.
