No ABSSIN, No Salary, HoS Declares

The Abia State Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah has declared that the Abia State Social Identity Number (ABSSIN) is a must for all Civil and Public servants in the State.

Sir  Wamah who disclosed this in his office, when he kick-started the ABSSIN organized by the Abia State Government in collaboration with Appmart Integrated Limited, declared further that, “Henceforth, registration and acquisition of the Abia State Social Identity Number will be determinant for the payment of salaries of Civil and Public Servants in Abia state”.

The Number One Civil Servant also declosed that the exercise is expected to last thirty one days from the date of the Head of Service enrollment in the Scheme-which was August 10, 2021.

Sir wamah, who however, urged  Civil/Public Servants to prioritize their enrollment in ABSSIN in their own interest disclosed that Government would provide Desk Officers in the respective MDAs and Local Government Headquarters to make the exercise accessible and easy for the workers.

Contributing, the Executive Secretary/Permanent Secretary, Abia State Planning Commission, Dr. Mrs. Nnenna Chikezie explained that ABSSIN will to a great extent assist Government in ascertaining the actual number of the Work-force in the State with a view to providing more job opportunities for the citizenry.

Dr. Mrs. Chikezie who further outlined other benefits to include: facilitating the Planning and the distribution of infrastructure in all the local Government Areas of the state, provision of Social Services, access to scholarships and other educational benefits.

According to the Executive Secretary, indigenes and non-indigenes residing in the State are expected to obtain their number before or by September 31, 2021 in the exercise which is compulsory for all.

She revealed that those using android phones can register in their homes using the online self-registration portal at abssin.online.com

Recall that Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, governor of Abia state, had launched the ABSSIN, during which he said that the scheme would further deepen the ease of doing business and social inter connectivity between citizens and the state social benefits.
