NDE flags off CBTS in Abia, 85 to benefit


The National Directorate of Employment, NDE has flagged off the employment generation agency’s Community Based Training Scheme, CBTS in Abia State.

Performing the ceremony at the NDE Skills Centre, Umuahia, Abia State, the Director General of NDE, Mallam Nuhu Abubakar Fikpo who was represented by the Deputy Director, Vocational Skills Development (VSD) department, Comrade Obinna Offia said that the skills training programme is designed to offer various vocational skills trainings to several community clusters in the state. 

In her welcome address, the Abia State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs Tessy Wachuku indicated that the programme will be offering multi vocational skill sets to a total of 85 beneficiaries drawn from the 17 local government areas of Abia state.

She urged the beneficiaries to take their trainings seriously with the aim of mastering their skills within the three months duration of the programme.

One of the master trainers on catering from Obingwa local government area of Abia State, Mrs Elizabeth Ezionyinye Onwere advised the trainees to be humble and committed to the programme.

Mr Oriaku John Amachagh from Osisioma LGA and Mrs Uzoma Blessing Christian from Ohafia LGA pledged to keep up with the programme expectations in meeting up with the NDE job creation mandate.

In her vote of thanks after the orientation programme for the beneficiaries, the Head, Vocational Skills Development department of NDE Abia State, Mrs Chidozie Nwachi appreciated all the participants and encouraged the trainees to aim at starting their own businesses on programme completion and employ others.
