The Rt. Rev’d Geoffrey Obijuru Ibeabuchi, Anglican Bishop of Umuahia Diocese has encouraged Christian faithful to learn to serve God in his own terms and conditions, as He has a standard.

In his homily captioned “The door will soon close”, with text drawn from the Bible book of Luke chapter 13 verses 23 – 25, during the induction/ institution of the Venerable Gerald Nwabuisi as the Vicar of St Andrew’s Church, Isiama Afara, Umuahia, Abia State, Bishop Ibeabuchi charged the congregation not to live according to their own choice and wills but according to God’s principles.

He decried that most Christian faithful have been trapped because they want to serve God in their own will.
According to him, “We have a generation that want property, development, progress among other things according to their own terms”.

He warned that one could still pay tithes, sing in the choir, contribute in building the church among other engagements in the Church and still go to hell.

The Anglican Bishop who cited the Bible book of Revelation chapter 3 verses 20-23, therefore admonished the congregation to open up their hearts now God is knocking because, “Time shall come when you will knock and God will say I do not know you”.

The event which featured the handing over of the church keys, deed of institution/ mandate of induction to the vicar by the chancellor of the Diocese, Chief Magistrate Rex Chikezie, saw the Chairman Diocesan Laity Council, Sir Frank Ibe, former General Manager, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA Hon. Eze Okwulehie, the wife of the Bishop; Mrs Gospel Geo-Ibeabuchi, notable sons and daughters of Isiama Afaraukwu, members of the Christian Men’s Fellowship CMF, Women’s Guild, WG, Mother’s Union, MU, ACB and Anglican Youth Fellowship, AYF.
