Ikoh’s Ministerial Nomination Well Deserved – Engr. Uchegbuo, Ahuwa-Oboro PG

Seven months is enough for anyone to make a meaningful impact in the service to humanity, the President General of Ahuwa Oboro Autonomous Community in Ikwuano local government area of Abia State, Engr. James Nnadozie Uchegbuo has said in an interview.


Engr. Uchegbuo who is also the President General of Igbo Vanguard Group was reacting to the nomination of Chief Henry Ikoh as a minister nominee by President Mohammadu Buhari.


The PG said that Ikoh had exhibited true service while serving as member of the Abia State Executive Council and predicted that his good performance in the recent nomination, may even create another opportunity for him to serve the country better.


His words, “It was his performance while serving as Commissioner in the state that made way for the consideration of announcing him a Minister nominee”.


According to him, although the Federal Government has been seen to have made lopsided appointment in the past,  “but now that one of our own is nominated by PMB, the story has changed”.


He decried what he called agonizing sixteen years the state went through under the ruling Peoples Democratic Party as there is nothing to show for it just as he wondered why the state generally still look like a local community without commensurate development.


“There is no development. No Government House. Workers, teachers and pensioners are not paid. We need a change from PDP to APC to see whether Abia can turn around.


“We can industrialize our state and offer employment to our teeming youth.  Without security and employment for the youths, the state will be in a state of quagmire.

“That is what we are seeing today. Nothing is working.  There are a lot of odds against the youth in the state.  The youth has no future in Abia. So we are praying that the needed change will come”, he stated.
