“Get Involved”, ABSG Tells LG Chairmen, Royal Fathers, As Sanitation Exercise Holds Saturday

The Abia State Government has called on the Executive Chairmen of the local government Councils, Traditional Rulers, Town union Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youth and women Organizations in the state to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the monthly sanitation exercise in the state and to participate as well.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Mr. Iheanyi Ubani who made this known while notifying/informing the general public on the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of July (Saturday, 31st July, 2021) in a press release he signed and made available to newsmen in Umuahia, directs that people should stay at home and clean up their areas between the hours of 9am to 11am.
The release stipulates that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption, as defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law.
The release directs the Nigeria Police, Federal road safety Corps, the Nigerian security and civil Defense Corps are to assemble at their usual places of take off for deployment.
The release further directs that any workforce during the exercise must not exceed ten people and must work with their nose mask as directed by government.
Recall that all markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises remained closed on Friday, 30th July, 2021, between the hours of 7am and 9am when they carried out their own clean up exercise, as directed by the government.
