Election Security: INEC Trains NSCDC Personnel, As Commandant Sanyinna Reassures Abia Residents Of Security Of Lives and Property

Barely few weeks to the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has engaged the officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC in a two-day “Train the Trainer”, election security workshop.

Speaking during the workshop organized for twenty five (25) NSCDC Officers in the state, according to a press release made available to newsmen by SC Ndukwe Agu Egwu, NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Abia State Command on behalf of Muhammad Hassan Sanyinna, the State Commandant, Barr. Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education encouraged the officers to show more patriotism in the service of their fatherland in the coming elections.

In the workshop which also saw the participants drawn from Heads of Departments and Units, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers and were trained on the topics like: Election Security Personnel (ESP) on Duty; Code of Conduct and Rules of Engagement; Enforcing Election Day Movement Restriction; Deployment and Mobilization; Election Day Offences and Penalties among other topics, Okoye who was accompanied by the INEC State REC, Prof. Ike Uzochukwu, also appreciated participants for their sacrifices to the nation so far.
The NSCDC State Commandant, Muhammad Hassan Sanyinna, while congratulating the participants for a successful outing, according to the release, also seized the opportunity to direct the beneficiaries to replicate same in their respective Divisions and offices to ensure that everybody was carried along.
He maintained that the NSCDC remained fully committed to a crime free society.
Others who also took part in the INEC organized training, according to the release include: the Nigerian Police, the Nigerian Army, DSS , Immigration Service, Correctional Service, NDLEA and the Federal Road Safety Corps.

It would be recalled also that recently, the NSCDC State Commandant, Commandant Sanyinna while acting on the directives of the Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR had organized a two day training programme for personal on Election Security Duties.
And as the countdown to the election continues, he has repeatedly assured Abia residents of adequate security arrangements to enable them participate in the exercise under a peaceful atmosphere.
From the available updates, critical stakeholders have been intensifying preparations by putting last minute measures to ensures a hitch free exercise come February, 25th and March 11th 2023 respectively.
