Education: UID constructs toilet facility for Abia school

In its efforts to encourage open defecation-free communities and to improve the well-being, wellness and hygienic status of the Abia primary school pupils and their teachers, the 2021-2023 Ugwueke In Diaspora, UID administration built and donated school toilet to Amaeze Ugwueke primary school.


Commissioning the project at Ugwueke in Bende L.G.A, of Abia State, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Chief Ukwu Rocks Emma commended the UID for giving the school access to a clean, safe toilet for improved sanitary condition of pupils and teachers in the school.

Chief Ukwu Rocks Emma who disclosed Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s efforts to ensure clean, safe and healthy environment, thanked Abians in diaspora for assisting the governor actualize his vision for Abia school and communities, adding that the Ministry of Basic Education will bring development to the Education sector in Ugwueke and Abia as a whole in fulfillment of the charge given to them by the governor.

Earlier in his speech on behalf of the Diaspora group, Comrade Awa Sunday explained that the project was the first in the series of developmental projects powered by the sons and daughters of Ugwueke in Diaspora.


He used the forum to call on Igbos to rekindle self-help spirit that had always marked out the Igbo man.


In a remark, the traditional ruler of Amaeze Ugwueke autonomous community, Eze Ifeanyi Onoh appreciated the UID for their benevolence and urged them to continue the good work.


Respectively, the Chairman of Ugwueke Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Ikwunna Ukwu, the Councillor of the ward, Hon. Emeka Agbara, teachers and pupils of the school expressed appreciation for the laudable gesture and prayed God to bless them richly.
