
CSACEFA meets Education Commissioner, celebrates retired teachers

In a positive step geared towards promoting and improving the quality of Education in Abia State, a group known as Civil Society Action Coalition on Education For All, CSACEFA Abia State chapter, Thursday, met with the State Commissioner for Post Basic Education, Sir Chijioke Mark in Umuahia.
Speaking during the visit which was led by the CSACEFA State Coordinator, Mrs Eunice Egbuna in company of Mr. Okezie Nwadinobi, the Programme manager of Youth Emancipation and Rehabilitation Foundation, YERF Sir Mark expressed his interest in working with CSACEFA.

In a brief remark, Mrs Eunice Egbuna, CSACEFA Abia State Coordinator described the meeting as “Unscheduled meeting” and appreciated the opportunity given to the group to interact with the Commissioner, even when he never had a formal appointment with them.
In another development, retired Teachers of Abia State School System, yesterday, celebrated the 2022 Teachers’ Day with Initiative for Grassroots Interventions and Development in Education, IGIDE in partnership with Abia CSACEFA.
Addressing the retired teachers at IGIDE office at 228 Azikiwe Road, Aba, the Executive Director of IGIDE / State Coordinator of CSACEFA, Mrs Eunice Egbuna advised them to have faith in IGIDE and work with them to jointly seek ways of making their new status meaningful and enjoyable in spite of non payment of their gratuity and pensions by the state government.

In their respective speeches, some of the retired teachers who include: Mrs Theresa Anusi and Mrs Blessing Ozoemena expressed happiness for identifying with the group and also appreciated their kind gesture, which they noted was a unique recognition of the services they rendered in their younger period.
