Abia State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corp, NYSC, Mr. Denis Jingi has encouraged corps members not to join the band wagon of those who having been in the service are amongst those calling for the pulling down of the scheme.

In his farewell address in Umuahia during the Year 2020 batch B Stream 1 passing out programme of Corps members deployed to Abia State on Friday, 21st October, 2021, Mr. Denis Jingi represented by the Assistant Director Planning, Research and Statistics, PRS Mrs Caroline Chukwu, enjoined them to be a good ambassador of NYSC anywhere you may find themselves.

Jingi who charged the corps members to be bold, brave, courageous, confident, and determined in the pursuit of their life goals, also urged them to go all out and put into practice all that NYSC during this one year service has taught them.

He reminded them that white-collar jobs are no longer available, hence the need to embrace entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial skills.

His words, “NYSC through her Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship  Development (SAED), in-camp and post camp programmes has empowered you to be that entrepreneur of your dream. It is my earnest desire that you avail yourselves of the various funding options, including loans from the Bank of Industry, CBN etc to establish your businesses and become job creators not job seekers”.

Jingi who congratulated the 2020 batch ‘B’ corps members deployed to Abia state for the successful completion of their national service to the nation, however reminded them that, “Trophies are not for starters but for finishers who have played according to the rules of the game”.

A total number of 792 corps members participated in the ceremony. Seven (7)  corps members were to repeat their service, two (2) corps members are for extension of service, as a disciplinary action, while five (5) corps members for various forms of commendations.
