CMF expresses worry over the dismantling of rail line in Abia, S-E

The Christian Men Fellowship, CMF of Anglican communion, Church of Nigeria have expressed deep concern over the dismantling of railway line in the Southeast region.

Delivering a presidential address at the 13th Diocesan CMF conference at St. Stephen’s cathedral, Umuahia, Abia State, The Rt. Rev’d Geoffrey Ibeabuchi, Anglican Bishop of Umuahia diocese wondered why those concerned have not come out to inform the public why the action was being taken.

Bishop Ibeabuchi who vividly recalled that the Federal Government had last year promised to build a narrow rail line from Portharcourt to Maiduguri, linking up Ajaokuta, Bonny seaport among other places.

“In recent times, it has been observed that the rail line around the state is being dismantled and carried away. Unfortunately, nobody seems to be explaining anything to anybody. Can somebody help! What is happening? 

“I am sure that the Federal Government promised sometime last year to build a narrow rail line from Portharcourt to Maiduguri, linking up Ajaokuta, Bonny seaport among other places.

“Are they now dismantling in order to commence the work or they trying to totally disconnect the Southeastern corridor of the rail line?” Bishop Ibeabuchi queried.
