Catholic Bishop Speaks On The State Of The Nation At Priestly Ordination


The Catholic Bishop of Umuahia diocese, Most Rev .Dr Lucius Ugorji has charged the 13 new Catholic priests to be a source of consolation to the society especially at this season,where Nigeria is faced with insecurity and economy downturn.

In his homily at Mater Dei Catholic cathedral, Umuahia, Abia State during the Priestly Ordination service, Bishop Ugorji enjoined the priests to take the gospel of salvation to Nigeria nation and be a source of consolation to them who are experiencing hardship as a result of bad economy, homeless as a result of insecurity, traumatized  and shattered by suffering.

His words, “You are sent at a time Nigeria is faced with bad economy, where insecurity of lives have rendered many homeless and traumatized.

“Today you are being sent to the world to be  teachers about God, sacredness of human lives and dignity of human person, to Nigeria nation, where the economy is bad, because of insecurity, many are homeless, many are traumatized and suffering hardships, you are being sent to our society that are shattered, to be a source of consolation to them, to be like Christ in whatever you are doing, and transparent so that people will see Christ in you, emulate Christ who is gentle in heart, be gentle and polite while dealing with them, the secret of success of priesthood lies in humility”.
