Bishop Onuoha Suggests Way Out Of The Challenges Facing The Education Sector In Nigeria

By Our Reporter

The Governorship Candidate of African Democratic Congress, ADC in Abia State, Bishop Dr Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha has called on the Federal and State Governments to step up budgetry allocation for education, to address the challenges facing the sector in Nigeria, especially the incessant ASUU strikes.

Speaking shortly after he was conferred with a Honorary Doctorate Degree of Science (Honoris Causa) award by the Wesley University, Ondo State, during its combined Convocation ceremony to celebrate the 9th and 10th sets of graduates of the University; Dr. Onuoha, a Methodist Bishop maintained that higher institutions in the country should intensify efforts to match skills acquisition with practical, technical knowledge, as this would help graduates keep their hands busy, since the white collar jobs are not readily available.

While appreciating the University Management and Senate body for adding another feather to his cap, Bishop Onuoha, the Co-chair interfaith dialogue forum for peace insisted that youths who are committed with jobs or viable skills, would have no time allocated to crime.

According to a letter signed by the University’s Principal Ass. Registrar and Secretary, Convocation Planning Committee, Bishop Onuoha was selected as a recipient of the Honorary Degree award, “In recognition of his numerous contributions to humanity within and outside Africa, and also of his commitment to university education generally.”

The Convocation ceremony took place on Saturday 11th June, 2022 at the University Take-off-Site, Km. 3 Ondo-Ife Rd. in the city of Ondo State.
