Accolades, encomiums as Catholic church honours Ugoeze Patience Enyinnaya
…Honour well deserved – Ikwuano traditional rulers, others
A philanthropist, Ugoeze Patience Enyinnaya, last Sunday, added another colourful feather to her cap when the Holy Trinity Catholic church, Umudike, Ikwuano L.G.A, of Abia State conferred on her, “2022 Royal Mother Award”.
Speaking shortly after he received the award on her behalf, during the event which was saw the Church celebrated its 15th year anniversary, the traditional ruler of Umudike autonomous community, Eze Joseph Anyaegbu, described the award recipient, Ugoeze Enyinnaya as not only illustrious but a great humanitarian, who has done not only Oboro proud but also Ikwuano in general.
He described the award as a clarion call for Ugoeze Enyinnaya to do more, touch more lives, impact more Ikwuano people and make sure excellence remains her watchword.
Interacting with our correspondent shortly after, the Deputy Chairman, Ikwuano Council of Traditional Rulers and traditional ruler of Umudikeukwu modern kingdom, Eze Ben Ogechi Oriaku who went down to recall the philanthropic gesture of Ugoeze Enyinnaya, disclosed that at the worst hit of COVID-19, when all hope was almost lost particularly for the indigent widows, vulnerable and downtrodden, she intervened with palliatives such as food, personal care products and other essentials, which were also given to indigent residents.
“Ugoeze Patience Enyinnaya is a silent achiever, a woman with the heart of gold, who sees education as golden. I never knew her but her works have made me to know her. She has paid hospital bills of so many people in Ikwuano and also many more are in their payroll”, Eze Oriaku further appreciated her good works as he prayed God to sustain her with good health and divine mercy, grace, love and benevolence to continue to do more for her people.
Also in their respective speeches, the traditional rulers of Awom na Ebo autonomous community, Eze Christopher Ejirika and his counterpart from Awom Oboro autonomous community, Eze Ironsi described the award given to Ugoeze Patience Enyinnaya as the first in the history of Ikwuano, maintaining that she rightfully deserve the award.
They appreciated her for keeping her husband’s memory strong, adding that Ugoeze Enyinnaya has a high regard for Ikwuano traditional rulers.
Ndi Ugoezes (wife of traditional rulers) were not left out, as they unanimously appreciated the good works of Ugoeze Patience Enyinnaya in Ikwuano Community, which according them, have also affected them individually and collectively too.
The wives of the traditional rulers who include: Ugoeze Laura Oriaku; Ugoeze Anyaegbu; Ugoeze Chidinma Ironsi and Ugoeze Obiageri Ejirika encouraged her to keep being nice to the indigent widows, downtrodden and the people of Ikwuano.
Earlier, the Parish Council Chairman of Holy Trinity Catholic church, Chief Sir Eugene Obasi ( Amamihe bu ike mba of Umudikeukwu) described Ugoeze Patience Enyinnaya as an epitome of greatness, whose good works in the Church and Community speak volumes.
