ABSU Convocation: Founders Of Slot Systems Ltd, Air Peace, Fmr S/E INEC Nat’l Commissioner Listed For Honoris Causa
The founder and Chief Executive Officer, Slot Systems Limited, Engr. Nnamdi Ezeigbo would on Friday, 12th November, 2021 be confered with an award of Doctorate Degree in Business Administration (DBA) at Abia State University Uturu, ABSU.
Others include, the Chairman, Air Peace Limited, Barr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema (Award of Doctorate Degree in Public Administration) and former National INEC Commissioner, Southeast zone, Dame Gladys Nne Nwafor (Award of Doctorate Degree in Public Administration).
In a preconvocation briefing in ABSU, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Onyemachi Ogbulu said the award on the selected distinguished and eminent personalities of the Southeast region was conceived following their phenomenal impact in human development.
Prof. Ogbulu further disclosed that a Professor of Education Finance, Prof. Samuel Igwe; Professor of History, Prof. G.I. Nwaka and Professor of Economic History, Prof. Anthony Nwabughuogu (Posthumous) would be confered with Emeritus Professors.
According to Prof. Ogbulu, the Past President of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Nnia Nwodo would on Thursday 11th, November, 2021 deliver the combined 27th and 28th preconvocation lecture entitled “Nigeria Political And Economic Future: The Dangers We Can Avert”.
He revealed that 29 students out of 5712 graduated (from the combined sets 16 and 13) with First Class Honours.
His words, “Abia State University has continued to blaze the trail in their academic performance, hence the exceptional performance of our graduates and products in notable positions of leadership. We stand for Excellence and Service at all times, hence the choice of the Honorary Degree Awardees and those to be confered with Emeritus Professors. Moreover the significant increase in the number of first class and second class upper division degrees as well as higher degrees is a commendable improvement with attests to the dedication and commitment of staff and students towards academics”.
He expressed gratitude that the convocation has finally being realized following the many challenges which trailed the planning and execution of the event from the year 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
