Abia State: Monthly Sanitation Exercise Holds Saturday, Feb. 18

The monthly sanitation exercise for the month of February will hold on Saturday February 18, 2023 in Abia State between the hours of 9 am and 11am.

The release signed by the Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Barr. Sam Nwogu and made available to newsmen in Umuahia, informed the general public that movement of people and vehicles during the period would be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.

According to the release, the Transition Chairmen of the Local Government Councils ,Traditional Rulers, Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youth and Women Organizations in the state would also be required to mobilize their people for the exercise and monitor same.

According to the release, those who are in an essential duty would be required to present on demand valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.

The release partly read, ” All markets, motor Parks, private and public transport companies  as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday February 17,2023 between the hours of 7am and 9am to carry out their own cleanup exercise.

“The Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps are to assemble at their usual places of take off for deployment.

The release which warned that defaulters would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law, further directs that people are to stay at home, clean up their areas and must work with their nose mask.
