Abia State: Monthly Sanitation Exercise Holds Saturday

The monthly sanitation exercise for the month of January will hold on Saturday January 28, 2023 in Abia State between the hours of 9 am and 11am.

The release signed by the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Environment Barr, Sam Nwogu and made available to newsmen in Umuahia, stipulated that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.
According to the release, Head of service of the Local Government Councils, Traditional Rulers, Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youth and Women Organizations in the state were advised to mobilize their people and also monitor the exercise.
The release partly read, “All markets, motor Parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday January 27 2023 between the hours of 7am and 9am to carry out their own cleanup exercise.
“The Nigeria police, Federal Road safety Corps, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps are to assemble at their usual places of take off for deployment”.
The release further directed that people should stay at home, clean up their areas and must work with their nose mask.
The release reminded residents that defaulters would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law.
