Abia State: Monthly Sanitation Exercise Holds Saturday 18th December


The monthly sanitation exercise for the month of December will hold on Saturday, December 18, 2021 in Abia state between the hours of 9am and 11am, according to a release signed by the Commissioner for Environment, Barr. Sam Nwogu.

The release stipulated that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand valid identification or any authorization for such exemption.

According to the release, the Executive Chairmen of the Local Government Councils, Traditional Rulers, Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youth and Women organizations in the state would be required to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise and to participate as well.

The release further directs that people are to stay at home and clean up their areas especially now there is a new variant of Corina virus.  Any workforce during the exercise must not exceed ten people and must work with their nose mask as directed by the governmen

The release partly read: “All markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday, December 17, 2021, between the hours of 7am and 9am.

“The Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps , the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps are to assemble at the usual places of takeoff for deployment”.

The warned that defaulters would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia state Basic environmental law.
