Abia State: Etim Emerges Overall Best Corp Member, As Govt Assures Continued Support For NYSC Scheme

Akwa Ibom State born graduate of Civil Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, Mr. Victor Akpan Etim has received state award as the overall best corp member.
Presenting the award certificates to Etim and to other five corps members during the passing out parade of the 2021 batch A stream ll 870 corps members deployed to the state, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu represented by the Secretary to Abia State Government, Barr. Chris Ezem assured that his administration would continue to support the NYSC scheme in the state especially in the provision of basic amenities for its smooth operation.
Gov. Ikpeazu informed that Government, approved funds for the rehabilitation of the orientation camp in umunna in Bende LGA to ease accommodation problem .
The Governor who congratulated the corps members for their dedication to duty and their overall selfless service to their fatherland, further lauded those that engaged in community development service especially in the area of health, education and rural transformation.
While stressing that his administration will not relent in appreciating hard work, Gov. Ikpeazu charged the corps members to shun activities that will undermine the noble ideas bestowed on them during their service year.
He commended the management of the scheme for the constant liaison with State Government which has significantly improved the cordial working relationship with the scheme.

In his address the Chairman NYSC Governing Board and Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. Charles Esonu congratulated the passing out corps members for the successfull completion of their service year.
He assured that Government will continue to pursue the policy of rewarding excellence in service, diigence, hardwork to outstanding corps members.

Earlier in his welcome address, the NYSC State coordinator, Mr Jingi Denis pointed out that out of the eight hundred and seventy corps member, nine will be repeating the service for cases of absconment from service.
He added that one corps member received state honours award for his outstanding performance while five received commendation certificates.
In his vote of thanks a corps member Mr Udeme Effiong thanked God and the state Government for the opportunity to serve in the state, assuring that they will continue to be good ambassadors wherever they find themselves.
