Abia Perm. Sec. To Residents: Join Hands To Promote A Healthy Abia
The Permanent Secretary, Abia State Ministry of Environment, Engr Iheanyichukwu Ubani has observed that 90 percent of diseases that had rendered most households ineffective, emanated from dirty environment.
Ubani represented by the Director Environmental Health and Pollution Control, Mr Godson Agharanya who made this known in Umuahia, while answering questions from newsmen therefore urged Abians to help not only the government but themselves by keeping their environment clean.
While maintaining that cleanliness is next to Godliness, Ubani further urged the residents not to empty their sewage into the gutters, reminding defaulters of the existence of the Environmental laws which prohibits such acts.
His words, “Ninety percent of communicable diseases come from the environment, hence, it behooves on every household to join hands and keep the environment clean”.
The Environment Perm. Sec. who also described the month’s cleanup exercise as successful, warned those who engage in other activities during the exercise to stop forthwith as the Environmental sanitation mobile court have been established to try offender and punish them accordingly.
