Abia NOA boss reacts on the passage of female inheritance law in Abia State

Dame ( Dr.) Ngozi Okechukwu, State Director ,National Orientation Agency (NOA) Abia State has applauded the Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji, Speaker Abia House of Assembly, and the entire Abia State Assembly on the passage of H.A.B. 61: Abia State Female Persons Right of Inheritance of Property Bill, 2022.

In a release made available to newsmen in Umuahia, Dame Okechukwu also appreciated the invaluable contributions made by the First Lady of Abia State Dr. Nkechi Ikpeazu on Gender based issues, adding that such feat cannot go unnoticed.

According to her, Mrs. Ikpeazu through her positive steps has created an enabling environment for promotion of gender rights and gender equality, adding, “She has always played the role of an advocate against every form of gender based violence”. 

Dr. Okechukwu regretted that women have been deprived from sharing the family inheritance when they are often the most useful members of family.

“This opportunity serves for women to claim what is theirs  and no longer fear of being threatened by their family. 

“Congratulations to Abia State and all human right advocates on this historic moment”.
