Abia: Monthly Sanitation Exercise Holds On Saturday


The monthly sanitation exercise for the month of October will hold on Saturday October 29, 2022 in Abia State between the hours of 9 am and 11am.

In a press release signed by the Commissioner Ministry of Environment, Barr. Sam Nwogu informed the general public that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.

According to the release, Executive Chairmen of the Local Government Councils, Traditional Rulers, Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youth and Women Organizations in the state are required to mobilize their people for the exercise while those on essential duty would be required to present on demand valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.

The release partly read, “All markets, motor Parks, private and public transport companies  as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday October 28, 2022 between the hours of 7am and 9am to carry out their own cleanup exercise.

“The Nigeria police, Federal Road safety Corps, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps are to assemble at their usual places of take off for deployment”.

The release further directs that people are to stay at home, clean up their areas and must work with their nose mask.

The release also reminded the general public that defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law.
