Speaking when they paid solidarity visit to the Abia APGA Governorship Candidate recently in his Umuahia campaign office, leader of the group, Mrs Oluchi Nwosu enumerated the sterling qualities of Prof. Ibe, stating that his visible antecedents “place him far ahead of his contemporaries”.

Her words, “In our quest for good governance in Abia state come 2023 we investigated the background of all the candidates contesting for Governor and discovered that the visible antecedents of Prof. Ibe place him far ahead of his contemporaries.

” We recalled his benevolence during COVID-19, the palliatives of foodstuff he has continued to freely distribute and the philanthropy which he recently manifested by treating many of us during the Prof Gregory Ibe Free Medical and Surgical Outreach. What of the scholarship he is giving to our children in his university. These are the qualities we noticed in him and decided to support his aspiration for governor”.

She therefore encouraged Prof. Ibe not to be deterred by the recent unfavourable court rulings but to remain focused on God, stressing that power only comes from above.

Responding, Prof Greg Ibe pledged to sustain the execution of social intervention programmes with the distribution of Christmas gifts to every polling unit soon.

He enjoined the women not to relent in interceding for the state, emphasizing that God has truly arisen to answer the prayer of Abians.

Prof. Ibe said, ” God has indeed heard the cries of our people and sent me to ensure that no Abian is left behind when I become governor in 2023″.

In another development, according to the news making the rounds, the Abia State Commissioner for Industry Chief Mrs Uwaoma Olewengwa has resigned her membership of the State Executive Council and subsequently announced her defection from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA).

It was reported that she (Mrs Olewengwa) told newsmen in Umuahia that she resigned her appointment for personal reasons and decided to join APGA because of her desire to partner other progressives in changing the narrative of Abia.

She was quoted by an online news to have said, ” I resigned from the cabinet on Sunday 18 December 2022 by a letter which I personally handed over to Governor Ikpeazu. My reasons for leaving PDP are private and personal but what is important now is that I have resigned from the cabinet and subsequently joined APGA because of my belief that working with the calibre of progressives within the party we can change the trajectory of the state”.

According to the online report, Mrs Olewengwa commended APGA for electing a renowned technocrat in the person of Prof Gregory Ibe as guber flag bearer, asserting that with his antecedents Abia will definitely experience massive development if he emerges victorious at the 2023 governorship election.

Recall that prior to her said resignation from Abia State Executive Council recently, Mrs Olewengwa was Commissioner for Industry, Promotions and Development
