Beware Of Scammers, Ahuwa Elders/Chiefs Raise Alarm

The stakeholders in Ahuwa-Oboro autonomous community in Ikwuano L.G.A, of Abia state comprising of the Community leaders and elders have insisted that the quest for land grabbing and resistance of same was the major reason Ahuwa leadership tussle persists in recent years.

To this end, they warned those who are hellbent to trick and confuse the innocent villagers to sell off family lands in a cluster by all means to repent and desist from such socially unacceptable acts.

A release tagged “Warning Against Land Grabbers”, made available to newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia state capital by the President General of the community, Engr. James Nnadozie Uchegbuo among other 13 members of the community with sensitive positions who consented to the release read in parts;

“This is to inform the general public and also warn Ahuwa Community indigenes, in particular, and the general public against some individuals who are hell bent on selling or leasing the individual lands of the community to become rich through fraud.

“We recall this is the fourth attempt within five years by the same group of persons deceptively presenting different people at different times either as estate developers, farm managers or lease-holding company, all in a bid to trick and confuse innocent people to sell off family lands in a cluster.

“Surprisingly, the Ahuwa Community lands in Azuiyi, Okirikowo in particular, which these persons want to sell by all means, remained subject to litigation between Ahuwa and one village outside Ikwuano LGA.

“The masterminds of this fraudulent game plan do not own the land they want to sell, do not contribute to the pending court case expenses and do not care about the fate and future of the poor families they insist to swindle.

“No genuine Ahuwa person will be happy seeing many families buy garri at Ahia Ndoro, Ahia-4 or from neighbouring Umuezeukwu, Umuigu, Ntalakwu or Oronta because a band of criminals have been raiding Azuiyi farms and harvesting everything on sight since last year. Yet, it is convenient for the land grabbing gang/agents to sabotage efforts to set up vigilance team against the thieves and save our mothers from begging to feed families.

“As Community Elders and Leaders we have investigated and found that the so called estate agents from India, Israel, Umuahia, or the latest one from a village in Ikwuano are all scammers, fake and fraudulent proxies to steal what belongs to others.

“We hereby put on notice and caution for the last time, those involved in this prodigal-son ambition to stop forthwith or face dire consequences of their action. All true sons and daughters of Ahuwa, home and abroad, should show concern and speak up now in order to prevent avoidable crisis. The quest for land grabbing and resistance of same is the major reason Ahuwa leadership tussle persists in recent years.

“We, the Elders and Leaders of Ahuwa Oboro Ancient Kingdom cannot fold our hands and watch the goat give birth on stakes”.
