In a call to spiritual duty, Rt. Hon. Uche Ogbuagu, the 2023 Labour Party candidate for the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal constituency and former Imo State lawmaker, has urged priests to fulfill their divine calling by winning souls for Christ and diminishing the influence of evil.

This message was delivered during the Collation Thanksgiving and Reception for Reverend Canon Emmanuel C. Onyerogbulem at St. Michael’s Anglican Church in Amatta, Ikeduru Local Government Area, Imo State.

Ogbuagu emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in service to God, particularly for those newly elevated, like Canon Onyerogbulem.

He encouraged the Canon to remain steadfast in his duties, reflecting the trust placed in him by the Anglican Diocese of Ikeduru.

Addressing the broader religious community, Ogbuagu criticized denominations that prioritize financial gain over genuine spiritual commitment, urging them to support their own clergy wholeheartedly.

The Venerable John Akahara, Archdeacon of Uzoagba/Amatta Archdeaconry, reminded the new Canon to remain humble and diligent in his responsibilities, aware of the ultimate divine judgment.

Speaking in appreciation, Reverend Canon Onyerogbulem expressed deep gratitude to Ogbuagu for his presence and generous support, praying for divine guidance in all his endeavors.

The event was attended by over 20 clerics, their spouses, and numerous dignitaries and parishioners.

Ogbuagu, accompanied by his supporters and advocates for social justice, also engaged with the media, highlighting his achievements during his tenure as Ikeduru’s representative in the State Legislature.
