On January 25, 2025, the prestigious Ikoyi residence of Dr. Desmond Chima Anyaso became a symbol of Igbo excellence as billionaires, technocrats, and politicians gathered to honor Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, of Abia State.
The event, a grand celebration of Southeast progress, featured notable attendees such as 2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate Peter Obi, Lagos State Labour Party gubernatorial candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and Ebonyi State PDP gubernatorial candidate Dr. Ifeanyi Odii. Business magnates like Allen Onyema of Air Peace, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo of United Nigeria Airlines, and Obinna Iyiegbu, known as Obi Cubana, were also present.

Dr. Anyaso, in his welcome address, attributed the impressive turnout to Governor Otti’s exemplary leadership, describing the gathering as a New Year visit that reflected shared optimism and camaraderie.
Speakers such as Chief UD Kalu and Ngozi Ekeoma lauded Governor Otti for his transformative leadership.

Chief Kalu noted a newfound pride in being from Abia State, while Ekeoma, quoting the Bible, emphasized the clarity brought by Otti’s governance.

Governor Otti, expressing gratitude to Dr. Anyaso and his wife for hosting the event, highlighted the importance of intentional governance.
He stressed that leadership failures often originate from the top, asserting, “If you get it right from the top, you can get everything else right.”
He assured that his administration is committed to ensuring Abia State’s resources benefit its people, emphasizing the difficulty of corruption when leadership is honest.
Addressing state opposition, Otti likened them to those whose “mouths have been removed from the feeding bottle,” suggesting their resistance stems from disrupted corrupt practices. He assured that 95% of Abians support his agenda for progress.

Concluding the event, Peter Obi praised Governor Otti’s performance, noting that visible opposition often indicates good governance.
He encouraged Otti to prioritize the welfare of the poor, as the rich can fend for themselves.
The evening underscored the unity and shared vision among Igbo leaders, business moguls, and technocrats, all rallying behind Governor Alex Otti’s transformative leadership in Abia State.
