In a vivid display of grassroots security and effective community policing, Otampa Security has made significant strides in complementing the efforts of Isuikwuato L.G.A and Abia State to restore order by tackling crime and criminal elements.

Recently, a male villager from the Osuu kindred in Echiele Otampa was apprehended for allegedly stealing an ATM card from a fellow community member and depleting the account.

The suspect, whose identity remains confidential, was captured and publicly paraded in Otampa following a resolution at the recent Otampa Development Union (ODU) meeting.

According to a reliable source, the suspect, unable to pay the demanded restitution of ₦100,000, offered an android phone, a bicycle, a gas cooker, and a water storage drum as compensation.

He has been given a one-month deadline to settle the remaining amount or relinquish the offered items.

Meanwhile, related to recent decisions made at the December 2023 general meeting, Ndi Otampa USA pledged to provide the Otampa Vigilantes with 12 months’ salary and has so far paid eight months of security wages, as announced by one of the illustrious sons of the community, Chief Paul Onyeabor (Akajiugo). Four months of wages remain pending, with Chief Richard Harrison assuming responsibility for the security wages through December 2024.

Ndi Otampa USA fulfilled its pledge to pay the Otampa Vigilantes for January, February, March, and April 2025, totaling two hundred sixty thousand Naira (N260K).

Ndi Otampa USA thanked the Otampa Vigilantes for their outstanding efforts in maintaining peace and protecting the Otampa community. They also commended the ODU leadership for their excellent service to the community and prayed for God’s blessings upon both current and former leaders for their dedication to community service.

Interacting with our correspondent via WhatsApp, Chief Richard Harrison expressed the readiness and preparedness of Ndi Otampa in diaspora to do more for the community in every aspect of life.
