In a congratulatory message, Chief Richard Harrison, a former Commissioner in Abia State, extended his best wishes to the newly elected executive members of the Abia State Chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).
Chief Harrison, who previously served as Commissioner of Finance and Education, communicated his goodwill via WhatsApp, highlighting the significance of effective governance.
He emphasized the importance of initiating and executing visible rural projects in collaboration with the state government to ensure the grassroots feel the impact of the recently granted autonomy.
He called on the new ALGON leadership, led by Hon. Chinedu Ekeke, Mayor of Isuikwuato, to prioritize transparency and accountability in their administration.
Chief Harrison stressed the necessity of good governance, urging the newly elected officials to uphold these principles.
He praised their leadership qualities and the confidence their colleagues have placed in them.
The election, which received unanimous support from all 17 mayors in the state, also saw Dr. Anthony Nwaubani of Ikwuano elected as Secretary and Mr. Anyanwu Obilor, Mayor of Aba South, as Treasurer.
