The President General of Ahuwa-Oboro Autonomous Community in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Chief James Nnadozie Uchegbuo, has emphasized the importance of houseplants in improving environmental conditions.

Uchegbuo who spoke to our correspondent in Umuahia, during the National Houseplant Appreciation Day on January 10, also urged Nigerians to adopt houseplants in their homes and communities to enhance air quality and humidity.

Uchegbuo, a professional engineer, highlighted that houseplants play a crucial role in reducing air pollutants and improving indoor air quality.

He explained that plants naturally consume carbon dioxide and release oxygen, making them essential for both rural and urban areas in Oboro, Ikwuano, Abia State, and across Nigeria.

He further noted that houseplants not only beautify spaces but also release moisture into the air, thereby improving humidity levels.

This, he said, enhances the comfort of homes and facilitates easier breathing by maintaining balanced humidity.
