Umuahia Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (UCCIMA), in a new press statement available to our correspondent in Umuahia, Abia State, champions economic revival in Nigeria, calling for green investment and business-friendly reforms in the country.
Chief Chidi Nkem Aruoma, President of UCCIMA, expressed optimism for business growth and economic development in 2025, urging increased investment in green initiatives and inclusive strategies to benefit rural and marginalized communities.
Chief Aruoma called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to prioritize enhancing the ease of doing business in Nigeria, highlighting the need for improvement in the country’s global ranking.
He also urged the Federal Government to tackle the pressing issues of multiple taxation and rising operational costs, advocating for harmonized tax policies to alleviate the burden on businesses and prevent closures.
Commending the resilience and determination of the business community in overcoming the economic challenges of 2024, Chief Aruoma praised their commitment to innovation and growth despite difficulties.
He expressed optimism that 2025 will bring renewed opportunities for businesses to thrive.
He underscored the importance of streamlining regulations, eliminating unnecessary administrative bottlenecks, and implementing clear, business-friendly policies.
Emphasizing the critical role of Micro, Small, and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Nigerian economy, he advocated for enhanced access to financing and the creation of a reliable database of active businesses to better support this vital sector.
