The process of signing indemnity forms for landowners of the acquired land for the Abia Innovation Industrial Park in Owaza, Ukwa West Local Government Area has commenced at the Abia State Ministry of Lands and Housing in Umuahia.

A letter of indemnity (LOI) is a document that ensures certain conditions are met between two parties to a contract, or compensation will be provided.

During a press briefing in Umuahia, the Abia State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr. Chaka Chukwumerije, stated that the indemnity forms will facilitate the disbursement of funds to the rightful landowners involved in the project.

Mr. Chukwumerije emphasized the process of validating and addressing any omitted names, assuring that the government will uphold its commitments when land is required for overriding purposes.

Describing the state government as one that adheres to the rule of law and due process, the Commissioner assured full compensation for those involved and praised their support and cooperation.

He noted that the form-filling is an ongoing process, highlighting that the government has completed the enumeration, proper accounting of economic trees on the acquired land, devaluation, and identification of various claimants.

In their remarks, some landowners of the acquired land for the Abia Innovation Industrial Park, including Pastor Adiele Ezekiel and Chief Chukwuemeka Okeke, expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for his attention and concern, pledging their continued support for the current administration.
