On Christmas Day, the Ogboo Ogu Civic Centre in Mbubo, Isiala Ngwa North LGA of Abia, was a hub of prayers and reflection as a large gathering of women received palliatives from esteemed philanthropist Chief Eric Opah and his family.
The event, which also marked the birthdays of Chief Opah’s wife, Mrs. Ogechi Christy Opah, and their children, Michelle and Fortune, provided an opportunity for the women to express gratitude for Chief Opah’s enduring generosity towards the Mbubo community.
In his address, Chief Opah emphasized the significance of the gathering, aligning it with the spirit of the festive season and the annual tradition of distributing palliatives to the women of Mbubo.
He highlighted the importance of this gesture, particularly in light of the challenging economic conditions.
Chief Opah expressed joy at returning to the community in good health after a year, attributing their well-being to divine mercy and the community’s fervent prayers.
The Opah family chose this yuletide season, coinciding with Mrs. Ogechi Christy Opah’s birthday, to honour the women of Mbubo, who have diligently cared for the land.
Chief Opah acknowledged the unwavering support and prayers from the women, offering them wrappers, rice, and other items to enjoy the season, while urging continued prayers for his family.
Mrs. Ogechi Christy Opah reiterated the gathering’s purpose to celebrate the mothers during this festive period, emphasizing their deservingness of love, care, and compassion.
She attributed the family’s gesture to God’s abundant blessings and faithfulness, noting that it has become an annual tradition.
Mrs. Opah shared that her motivation stems from a lifelong habit of giving, which she believes attracts further blessings.
She encouraged mothers to engage in meaningful activities, regardless of scale.
Kindred Woman Leader, Mrs. Jane Akoma, expressed gratitude to Mr. and Mrs. Opah for their consistent support, recalling Chief Opah’s pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She urged mothers to instill the value of giving in their children and encouraged other affluent individuals in Mbubo to emulate Chief Opah’s example.
Beneficiaries, including Blessing Okali, extended their appreciation to the Opah family, praying for abundant blessings upon them.
Wrappers, bags of rice, and other items were distributed to the women of Mbubo to celebrate the festive season.
