The Straight Child Foundation (TSCF), a nongovernmental organization, has encouraged well meaning Nigerians to leverage the Christmas season to create opportunities for children with special needs to enjoy the festivities, akin to their more privileged peers worldwide.
In a Christmas message shared with our correspondent in Umuahia, Abia State, Dr. Peace Amaraegbulam, the visionary behind the organization, emphasized that celebrating children with special needs during this festive period can highlight their challenges to both governments and the public.
Dr. Amaraegbulam noted that Christmas embodies love and giving, and any gesture of love towards children with special needs would be deeply cherished.
“We want these children to have the same Christmas experience. We want them to enjoy the fun that the Christmas season brings,” the statement partially read.
TSCF also expressed profound gratitude to its volunteers for their dedication and contributions throughout 2024, stating, “Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones and overcome challenges with resilience and teamwork.”
“Let us use this Christmas time to recharge, reflect, and cherish the moments. May the season bring warmth and happiness to you and your families.
