The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Abia State Council, has issued a formal disclaimer against a faction of alleged dissident pensioners led by Comrades Eld. J.A. Kalu as Chairman and Stanley Ibekwe as Secretary.
In a press release titled “DISCLAIMER: RE: THE SO-CALLED ‘CONCERNED PENSIONERS OF ABIA STATE’,” signed by Elder Chukwuemeka Irondi, State Chairman, and Elder Uma Kalu, Secretary, the Union firmly opposes the group’s anti-union activities.
“It is crucial to affirm that there is only one duly elected and legitimate leadership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Abia State, headed by Comrade Elder Chukwuemeka N. Irondi,” the statement declared.
The Union urged the government to engage exclusively with this recognized leadership on all pension-related matters in Abia State.
The NUP Executive cautions Abia pensioners against any association with the “Concerned Pensioners of Abia State” group, warning that such affiliations undermine the interests of both Abia pensioners and the Union.
