The palace of HRM Eze Pastor Phillip Ajomiwe, the traditional ruler of the Oriendu autonomous community in the Ohuhu clan, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, has honoured Dr. Onyekachi Okoro and his wife, Dr. Mrs. Golden Okoro, with the chieftaincy titles of ‘Ichere Obinwanne 1’ and ‘Ugo Oma Si Mba Bia Aruka Akwa 1’ of Oriendu Kingdom.
During the conferment ceremony, Eze Ajomiwe emphasized that his palace does not bestow honours based on wealth or affluence but rather selects individuals with proven track records and outstanding contributions to human and community development.
Eze Ajomiwe praised the couple’s remarkable qualities and urged them to continue their philanthropic and humanitarian efforts.
HRH Eze Paul Uzuegbu, the traditional ruler of the Okaiuga Nkwoegwu autonomous community, also spoke, advising traditional rulers to recognize accomplished individuals with well-deserved titles to encourage further contributions.
He urged the honorees to maintain their integrity and uphold justice, avoiding any actions that could tarnish the traditional institution.
Chief Sir Paul Anyalewechi, the Traditional Prime Minister of the Oriendu autonomous community, expressed confidence that the honour bestowed upon Chief Okoro, a native of Umuekwele-Uhuokwu, would inspire him to further contribute to the community’s development as a member of the King’s cabinet.
In their response, Chief Dr. Onyekachi and Chief Dr. Mrs. Golden Okoro expressed gratitude to the Oriendu autonomous community for the recognition, assuring that they would not disappoint the community.
They pledged to actively contribute to the community’s progress.
The event was attended by notable figures, including Anambra State-born High Chief Innocent Omanukwue and Ugwudiya Grace Ihediuko, the woman leader of Uhuokwu village, among others.
