The Member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State, Chief Amobi Godwin Ogah, has pledged to constantly improve the lives of his constituents through quality representation and empowerment opportunities.
Ogah made the assurance on Saturday at the Onuaku Central School Uturu during his one year anniversary of stewardship and quality representation in the House of Representatives, where he distributed sewing machines, generators, grinding machines, vulcanizing machines among others to the constituents.
He charged the beneficiaries of his constituents empowerment to be determined and dedicated with whatever business they start with the items they received.
He said that his vision is that as they are empowered, they will grow to become employers of other people, thereby becoming empowered vessels and wealth creators in their Communities.
Amobi Ogah said, “This will be second edition of my empowerment program for my Constituency. In December, 2023 I distributed items and cash worth over 100 million Naira to elderly, women, vulnerable people and other categories.
” This time around, we are distributing items like vehicles, mini buses, mini pick-ups trucks, tricycles, motorcycles, ladies machines, sewing machines, generators, grinding machines, vulcanizer machine, salon dryers and washers among others”.
He said the sole reason is to empower his constituents so that they can start businesses of their own while those who already have businesses can grow them to thrive and contribute to the community’s growth.
According to him, besides empowering his constituents with various items,he has been working assiduously to impact and provide dividends of democracy to the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.
“Over the past 16 months, therefore and in keeping with my promise to bring home to Isuikwuato and Umunneochi people the dividends of democracy and good representation within every constitutional means, I have been able to impact the lives of my people with ground breaking developmental projects, among which are:
” The restoration of security of life and property in our constituency, this was achieved when I moved my first motion in the House on the need to curtail the incessant killings and kidnapping in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency which culminated in the setting up of an ad hoc Committee to investigate the issue. The Committee in collaboration with the State government made recommendation for the establishment of operation crush in the Constituency which stemmed the tide of incessant killings and kidnapping today.
“In the area of infrastructure development,we have completed the Ukwunwangwu daily market with solar powered electricity, thus making it arguably the largest open market in the entire Abia North Senatorial district.
“In 2024 we opened up an access road to the Ulonna North farm settlement to make the movement of farm produces from the market easy.
” Further more we have concluded arrangements for the construction of roads in different parts of the constituency to be flagged off in few days. We also sunk solar powered boreholes in the five zones of our constituency. Namely Uturu, Isuikwuato, Isuochi, Umuchieze, Nneato to ease the burden associated with lack of water in our constituency.
“We are also making serious efforts to light up every part of our constituency with solar powered street light. It is also in the same vein that we lite up the premises of ABSU International secondary School to ensure a conducive learning environment for students.
“In the area of health we have renovated and upgraded the abandoned Isuikwuato General Hospital with solar powered electricity to ensure 24 hours light in the hospital and provided with medical equipment which will be supplied in few days.
“We are also in process of completing Mother and Child Hospital in Mbalano as well as the construction of an ultra modern hospital in Lokpa for our constituents in Umunneochi local government.
“In Agriculture we secured and distributed super Green palm seedlings to farmers in our constituency.
“In education I have awarded 22 all expensive paid scholarship to our youths studying in various institutions and Abia State College of Health Aba. We also added 6 all expenses paid scholarship distributed to the 22 wards in our constituency under my Foundation.
” We have also commenced the construction of six class rooms in Nneato and Onuaku Uturu Isuikwuato. We also paid Examination fees for indigents students in our constituency. This was done with the sole aim of giving them a bright future and provide a platform for youths to achieve their dreams.
“We have done enough to improve the health care needs of our people. As the chairman of the House Committee on HIV/AiDs tuberculosis and Malaria and by special grace of God as the president of all parliamentarians in Africa”
Speaking further, he noted that it has been a remarkable experience representing and serving Nigerians through the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, revealing that why assuming office,”I swore to my myself that I must make a mark on the sands of time, history and prosperity, the template for service delivery and service to humanity and mankind is the yardstick that I want my performance to be measured by.
” I want to revolutionized the act of governance in Nigeria and provide service delivery to the teeming masses of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in particular and Abia State in general.
” I intend to provide a credible leadership for people and be a beacon of hope and service delivery to you,my constituents”
In his speech, the Labour party National Vice chairman Ceekay Igara who represented the Labour party national Chairman, Barrister Abure, praised Hon Amobi Ogah for what he is doing.
According to him, ” We sent them to represent us and bring dividends of democracy.
” I can assure you today is doing what we expect him as a labour party, Amobi Ogah is representing us and making us proud.
“The national chairman should have been here but he asked me to represent him.
” What Amobi is doing is first of its kind in Abia State. Amobi wants his constituency to be better than he met it and because you want your constituency to be better, we will stand by you”
He pointed out that Labour party is a party for everybody, added that,” What you are seeing today is just the beginning and if you are not one of the beneficiaries, wait for your time” he advised.
Among dignitaries that graced event were the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly Hon. Lucky Johnson, Hon Kelechi Akaliro, member representing Umuahia North State Constituency, Mayor Isuikwuato LGA Hon. Chinedu Ekeke and the Attorney general and Commissioner of Justice Hon Ikechukwu Uwanna.
