The wife of the Archdeacon/Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, Anglican communion, Ubakala in Umuahia South L.G.A, of Abia State, Mrs Chinyere Emeruwa, has described some mothers in-law as strong pillars of success to their sons’ marriages.
She also pointed out that the mindset of a daughter in-law before going into marriage or when already in marriage determines her attitude towards her mother in-law.
Emeruwa, interacted with our correspondent through WhatsApp chat as some countries across the globe celebrate the October 27, National Mother in-law Day.
According to the records available, October 27 National Mother in-law Day celebrates all that is good about Mothers in-law.
She pointed out that some mothers in-law can be the greatest benefit and a true champion for their daughters in-law’s relationship during the hardest of times.
Her words, “An example is a daughter in-law who could not cook good meals. Which made her husband to be going outside to eat, but the mother in-law intervened by teaching her how to cook, especially her husband’s favourites. The mother in-law started by cooking the food and always brings to the daughter in-law to serve her husband. Later on she taught her how to prepare the meals. The husband never knew what happened behind the scene. Peace and greater love was restored to the home”.
Moreover, she admitted that some mothers-in-Law can be the worst enemy of their daughters in-law’s relationship and can cause more problems than a sentimental love-letter from an old flame.
“Another scenario is a lady who when she was still single wished to marry a man that has no father nor mother.
Unfortunately for her, she married a man whose father and mother were alive. That home experienced no peace until the husband died while the parents were still living. The wife and her 5 kids are presently in her father’s house”, Emeruwa said.
She enjoined daughters in-law to spend some time with their mothers in-law on this special day, telling them how much they appreciate them, even if they don’t like their mothers in-law and think also they are more than a little annoying.
