A Charity Organization known as Harrison Goodness Foundation, HGF has advised Nigerians to design out ways of creating positive change to benefit their Communities, as some countries across the globe celebrate the year 2024 National Make a Difference Day.

The Foundation also advised the government to not only restore macroeconomic stability of the country by increasing non-oil revenue but to also expand social protection that will benefit the poor and most vulnerable.

Created in 1992 by USA Weekend magazine, National Make a Difference Day is an annual event celebrated on the fourth Saturday in October. According to the records available, this extraordinary day aims to inspire people from all walks of life to step up, take action, and make a positive difference in their communities.

Interacting with our correspondent through WhatsApp chat in commemoration of the day, the HGF founder, Chief Richard Harrison, said that Harrison Goodness Foundation has been putting in efforts to bring positive changes in Nigeria through going down to the community level to do medical outreach, palliative care to the needy and scholarship scheme.

Chief Harrison who described the HGF scholarship schemes as one of the Foundation’s legacy project, disclosed that it tends to empower promising individuals pursuing secondary and higher education. 

He stressed that in recognizing the transformative power of education, the organisation chose to invest in Nigeria’s future leaders, innovators, and change-making students.

He said that through the NEEDs assessment machinery set in place, the Foundation was able to design programmes tailored to the unique circumstances of Otampa community, which has also succeeded in fostering self-sufficiency in most homes.

While x-raying the concepts of Cultural sensitivity and context, sustainability Community trust, Chief Harrison expressed joy that HGF is assisting Otampa community in tackling the rate of school dropouts/poverty which is one of the largest problems in the world, aside climate change.

He seized up the opportunity to appreciate the collaboration of Otampa community with HGF, which he also said, has not only led to more effective and sustainable outcomes but fosters a sense of community ownership and long-term impact.

Chief Harrison observed that the idea behind Make a Difference Day is to show that anyone can impact their community positively, no matter how big or small the action.
