A sociocultural organization known as Igbo Vanguard Group, IVG has harped on the need for those in exalted positions particularly the elderly to build a framework of positive role models, as it is vital to developing responsible and confident young adults.
Interacting with our correspondent in Umuahia as some countries across the globe celebrates the year 2024 National Youth Confidence Day, the IVG President General, Engr. Dr. James Nnadozie Uchegbuo, who also highlighted the need to enhance youth leadership skills, pointed out that positive role models can also help the Nigerian youth to develop strong values, such as integrity, respect, and empathy.
According to him, when the leaders showcase positive role models like professional work ethic, good interpersonal skills and positive character traits, the youth will model these values in their own behaviour, and the impact of these models would help them to further learn the importance of ethical behaviour and positive social interactions.
Uchegbuo, the President General of Ahuwa-Oboro autonomous community, Oboro clan in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, who observed that the October 20, National Youth Confidence Day encourages the world to connect and inspire today’s youth for tomorrow’s success, also observed that the Day celebrates the energy, spirit and potential of young people.

To assist today’s youth navigate the obstacles that will inevitably lay before them, and also help lighten up their path,Uchegbuo joined other leaders of thought and scholars to call for adequate guidance, leadership and mentorship trainings for the youth.
According to the records available the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Confident Girl Mentoring Program, Inc., Tiffany R. Lewis, founded National Youth Confidence Day in 2018.
According to the records, it’s her goal to encourage a strong foundation of positive relationships to mentor today’s youth. As a result, National Youth Confidence Day is a Celebration of Confidence for young people everywhere.
The day is an acknowledgment of all they will accomplish, respectively.
