A Past President of Rotary Club of Umuahia Government House, District 9142, Rotarian Emeka Wachuku has enjoined Nigerians to seize the opportunity created by the October 19 National New Friends Day and make new friends across their boundaries.

Interacting with our correspondent through WhatsApp chat as some countries across the globe celebrates the annual event, Rotarian Wachuku described making new friends as an avenue to kill boredom and enjoy companionship.

National New Friends Day which rolls around annually on October 19, according to the records available, was established around the idea of how great it can be to expand horizons, grow in life and make new connections with people.

According to the Rotary Past President, “New friends can help one to gain new ideas, sharpen one’s belief and also afford one the opportunity to reach out to others”.

He disclosed that the core belief of Rotary International which is service above self has assisted Rotarians to enlarge their scope and also improve on their ability to serve humanity.

“National New Friends Day is all about making room for new connections in your life, and celebrating the potential for friendship everywhere you go”, Rotarian Wachuku also observed.
