A social innovator and community advocate, Mrs. Adanma Odefa, has urged women across the globe to lose their bras in solidarity of those battling breast cancer, as some countries observed the year 2024 National No Bra Day.
National No Bra Day on October 13 encourages wearers to leave that bra at home to promote cancer awareness.
Odefa, while interacting with our correspondent through WhatsApp chat, decried that the burden of breast cancer is far reaching, as it attacks not only the sick one but their family, friends, finances, mental health among other things.
The Community advocate passionately called on the government and other major stakeholders to come together with a united front, in order to stamp out breast cancer.

Her words, “It’s Breast Cancer Awareness month. Everyone knows that. Everyone also knows that women and men pull out all stunts to raise awareness to this debilitating disease in hopes of reducing it’s occurrence and increasing a favorable outcome for those affected.
“It may not be an over-statement to say that everyone knows at least one woman who has died from or is currently battling breast cancer. I know more than a handful.
“Let us collectively set our breasts free and wild! Allow those special ladies to wiggle, jiggle and giggle wild and free just for today.
“In addition, if you know someone battling breast cancer, do reach out within this month and encourage them.
“In the same spirit, if you know a family that has lost a precious woman to breast cancer, also reach out and offer some words of comfort”.
She enjoined all women to routinely check their breasts, get a mammogram, live healthy, shed weight if they need to and stay hopeful.
“If you are wearing a bra whilst reading this, stop reading at once and divest yourself of that stifling sling before you continue”, Odefa further advised.
National No Bra Day is about the fight against breast cancer. It encourages women around the world to ditch their bra to raise awareness for this disease.
